Negotiations with Islamic Party in Tunisia

Consisted of a team of 45 members, IMKANDER visited Nahda and Selefi Reform Front came into power after Tunisian revolution.

Negotiations with Islamic Party in Tunisia

The members of From Nation to Ummah Excursion and Dialog Group formed a 45-member mission including those Islamic associations and NGOs, together with IMKANDER paid a visit toTunisian January 5, 2013.

On the same day, Rashid Gannushi, General President of Nahda Movement Party was in Hammamat city of Tunisia, to take part in Extended Council Meeting of the Party. Tej Sultan Hotel, where he addressed to the guests was at the southern part of Hammamat.  Under the coordination of Hamza Turkmen, Ahmet Agirakcha, Abdurrahman Dilipak and Fuat Deger, Excursion and Dialog Group formed by the representatives of Islamic societies and organizations, academicians, attorneys, writers and publishers met with Nasreddin Bahrini, General Director of Amel Help and Human Right Organization, early in the morning in the same day.

The mission also negotiated with the leaders of Tunisian Socialist Party and Selefi Recovery Front during the visit.

Dr. Muhammad Hoca, leader of Recovery Front, said that they worked to construct a political and social life inTunisia, commensurate to principles of Quran and Sunna and that their members tortured in the jails on that cause for years.

Hodja added that Tunisia met with deep freedom after the revolution, but that wasn’t sufficient and that they worked for regulation of Tunisian state and society according to the Islamic rules.

From Nation to Ummah Excursion and Dialog Group was introduced to Amel Society, one of the most leading help and human right organizations of Tunisia. During the meeting held in Hammamat, Nasreddin Bahrini, General Director of Society provided information to From Nation to Ummah Excursion and Dialog Group on the fields of activities and struggles conducted by the Society.

In his concluding remarks, Bahrini responded to the questions of the mission as follows:

“At the very beginning, Amel Society was emerged from a donation organization.  We were donating food and money on behalf of the prisoners’ families. Meanwhile, we always knew that we had to conduct political struggle. Unfortunately, the dictatorship forced us to delay our objectives. Thanks Allah we are in every field now.  We have expert staff in every field.  They include the teams’ donation upon calamity like fire, flood and earthquake, etc., a health team, personal life support project team, culture and science group and the like.  We involve in every area of the health care. Our doctors serve to the people in every part ofTunisia.  We support small-scale economies like apiculture, agriculture, bakery and the like.  We build cisterns and wells in order to supply water to home.  We organize meetings and conferences.

We didn’t receive any help from Western countries.  In fact, France made an airplane available for Bin Ali. They were all published in French press. USA was impartial.  Meanwhile, Iran openly backed Bin Ali before revolution. Iran refused the immigration request of the Nahda members, which was nothing but an open support to old regime. Iran wants to establish relations with the government after the revolution.

Meanwhile,Tunisia needs help in every field.  But we, as the society, may accept the contribution by declining any influences on our own values.

The women have taken part in our society before and after the revolution.  Our women decently struggled while their men were in the jail.  On the other hand, the women were the ones who suffered most.  The women whose husbands were in jail tried to make their living with their pride and morals under severe conditions.  Therefore, our women have deserved everything for their comprehensible sacrifice.  Meanwhile, there are women doctors leading the social group and health group of our society.

In their excursions and negotiations in Tunisia, From Nation to Ummah Excursion and Dialog Group finally met with Amir El Ureyit, Organization Leader of En-Nahda Party.

Taking part in the negotiation with From Nation to Ummah Excursion and Dialog Group at Tej Sultan Hotel by leaving Extended Council Meeting of the Party for two hours, Ureyit pointed on the course of Islamic movement in Tunisia, problem encountered and the future prospects of their movement.
