Syrian refugees struggle for life under harsh conditions in Gaziantep and Kilis

Refugees children of Syria are hungry and sick

Gaziantep/

Having taken shelter in Turkey, two millions of Syrian refugees struggle for life under harsh conditions.

A considerable part of refugees that have taken shelter in Turkey for four years due to civil war in their homeland, survive at the camps established in the provinces such as Gaziantep, Kilis, Hatay.

However, hundreds of thousands of people stay at houses and offices for rent only to offer a better future for their children, to educate them and more importantly to satisfy their needs and wants with no dependence on others.

Hunger and Sickness Patrols: No Warm Hearth and Home

Organising stream of aids in Gaziantep and Kilis, IMKANDER determined around 150 families living in an abandoned office block at the Industrial Zone in Gaziantep, and delivered them aid. Most families that have hired very small rooms for prohibitively expensive rates such as TL 350-400 on an abandoned building named Bulgucular Sitesi, and majority of the refugees struggling for live at an office block with  no heater that consists of a room- some with no electricity- and a toilet, are sick out of cold and hunger.

Carpets were delivered within the scope of aid campaign, organised by Gaziantep Representative Office of the association, and Murat Ozer, the Chairman of IMKANDER made a press release at the office block. "Gaziantep is a province well-known for industry and welfare. People of this province embrace its brothers and sister, unfortunately this is not sufficient. Bigger troubles can be prevented in the first place only by doing very little municipal works at this abandoned building. To start with, cleaning and bathroom requirements can be satisfied by the municipality. These are insignificant matters for local governments. Children are shivering with cold here. Believe me, what is going on here is not much different from the condition in Syria. They die out of bombs there and out of cold and hunger here." said he.

Boots and Coats Delivered to Students of Orphans' School in Kilis

paying a visit to a school built out of containers in Kilis, IMKANDER representatives distributed coats and winter boots to 270 orphans at school where mathematics, Arabic and life sciences were taught through Syrians own means. IMKANDER delivers aid to the "Orphans' School" on a regular basis.
