Families applying for residence permit according to e-date received from Foreigners Branch of Istanbul Police Department have been rejected which have come to Turkey as refugee during 2010 and 2011.
Families faced residence problem this year too which experience every year the same difficulty. Families stated that they are in trouble with school registry of their children since they could not get residence permit.
Families who stated that they knew to get fined due to visa infringement despite them did not desire added that they expect urgent solution from Ankara.
Computer issues a date for 2011 and police department does not issue residence permit alleging the person got a date for 2011.
İMKANDER Board Member Ömer E. Bezirgan; "We almost everyday go to Istanbul Police Department together with the families having such problems. But each officer expresses another reason and families are mistreated. Officers stated that residence permit is issued for the families came to Turkey until end of December last year according to the notification issued by Ankara last year, informed us that they could not accept families came to Turkey November and December 2010. The reason they state is the date of meeting was 2011. However when we request a date for November or December 2010, the computer system of the police department assigns the date automatically as 2011. Do the families are responsible for this mistake?" he concluded.
Bezirgan who stated that this problem must be solved which is faced every year continued as follows: " We face so conditions that they give permission to the child but not to the mother, they give permission to those entered 2011 but not to those entered during 2010. They tell those Chechenian born in Kazakhstan since Russia exiled Chechenian in the past that "you were born in Kazakhstan, we cannot issue permission for you" but they reject for some other reasons when we apply in another time. These are misapplications caused by lack of information. Those people preparing such notifications must be informed these exiles and the notification must be more inclusive".
We Imkander hereby request Ankara to find a solution to this issue and to grants Caucasian families Refugee Status recognized by 1951 Geneva Convention instead of temporary notifications.
