ISTANBUL/
Children of refugee families that took shelter in Turkiye due to war and domestic disturbance in their country were circumcised in a feast.
42 children from different communities were circumcised thanks to support from Yenibosna Safa Hospital in a circumcision feast organised by IMKANDER, the humanitarian relief foundation.
Ozer. "Refugees are our brothers and sisters."
The organisation lasted two days. On day 1, children under 1 were circumcised. Murat Ozer, President of IMKANDER made a statement and expressed that especially the Syrian refugees were exposed to unacceptable attacks lately, adding that their organisation served as a symbolical response and reaction to such attacks. Özer continued his remarks as follows: "We must act as people from Medina who helped immigrated Muslims and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and should protect and help our refugee brothers and sisters. This is both a religious and humanitarian responsibility for us all. I call on our people to come together for our brothers and sisters that are in need of help and support, and to help these children benevolently. We could make this organisation come true for a certain number of children as far as we could do. However, more refugees from Syria, East Turkistan, Uzbekistan and Caucasia to our foundation. We will get them circumcised in a short while as well."
A medicine committee led by Surgeon Cabbar Sarı and Surgeon Yavuz Güler, both doctors at Safa Hospital, contributed to the circumcision feast, and the hospital personnel worked self-sacrificingly.
Dr. Guler: "We Should Act in Solidarity with our Brothers and Sisters."
Emphasising the fact that majority of children were under age 1 facilitated the operation in terms of medicine, the Surgeon Cabbar Sarı explained that post-circumcision recovery was faster in babies and children had no trauma.
Defending that we should act in solidarity with the refugees coming to our country from Caucasia, central Asia, Syria and East Turkistan, the Surgeon Yavuz Güler continued as follows: "I am more than happy to be a part of this organisation today. I am utterly glad to have made contributions. We are always in for that. Refugees are our religious fellow. People of Turkey should help their brothers and sisters."
The volunteers of IMKANDER offered Turkish delight to the hospital staff and the patients at the hospital at the end of the circumcision feast. The refugee mothers expressed their contentment and gave their special thanks for the organisation. The foundation will organise a new circumcision feast in the forthcoming days.
