IMKANDER lost no time in acting as a policeman tackled a 9-year old boy to the ground and sat on top of him as the child utters Islamic confession of faith.
Conducting an international work for Human Rights, IMKANDER wrote up a letter addressing the prime Minister of Sweden, kindly requesting that some thought is given to the matter. Underlining in the letter that it felt concerned for the safety of life of the Muslims living in Sweden, the association also demanded that a prosecution be initiated against the relevant officers and they be punished grossly.
Prepared both in Turkish and in English and directly sent to e-mail address (http://www.government.se/pub/road/Classic/article) of the Prime Minister of Sweden, the letter attracted attention on social media and reactions grew into a campaign. Here is the Turkish and English version of the letter:
Dear Stefan Löfven
Prime Minister of Sweden
12.02.2015
Two children at the age of 9 and 12 were viewed on the global press to have been exposed to violence by security officers in Malmö city of Sweden, which is utterly and unconditionally unacceptable. The images evidently show that one of the security officers sits on and presses on the 9-year old boy, pressing his hands onto his mouth in an attempt to prevent him from breathing and speaking. It is claimed that the children are accused of trying to get on the train without ticket. No matter what their crime is, treating children at that age, in breach of "human rights and human dignity" is unacceptable.
That the children are Muslims and that the 9-year old boy is exposed to even more violence from the hands of the security officer in an attempt to leave the child breathless especially after he recites the "kalima shahadah" has severely affected the Muslims that watched the video. In times like these when oppression and racist actions against Muslims tend to increase in European countries, it is crucial for the sake of peace and ease that such actions, which are likely to intensify Muslim-Christianity contradiction, are prevented in the first place. Primary reason why over half a million Muslims migrate to your country where economic and social welfare is very high is "their desire to live humanly". However, the video deepens our concerns and anxiety for security of life for the Muslims living in Sweden.
Muslims recite "kalima shahadah", which is the Islamic testimony of faith, meaning "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (pbuh) is the servant and Messenger of Allah. ", all their lifetime, and they truly wish that this be their last sentence before they breath their last breath. The 9-year old boy repeats it as he obviously thinks that he is "about to breathe his last breath". Muslim people that watch the video can easily see and understand this.
We hereby request that a prosecution is initiated against the security officers that torture a small child, intimidating him to death, and that people in charge of the scene be punished as severely as possible.
IMKANDER (Humanity Defense and Brotherhood Association)
