Yalova Governor Dursun Ali Şahin Stated that the problem of power supply in refugee camp located in Yalova in which Chechenian refugees sheltered will be solved until October 1st which took attention of national press by efforts of Imkander.
Governor Sahin told during courtesy visit carried out by Yalova Industrialists Association Board of Directors that they endeavor to solve at least power supply problem of the refugee camp and they aimed to furnish cables and poles until October 1st and to push the switch. It was understood that a cost of approximately 17-18 thousand TRL was required to illuminate the camp and to transmit the power here in which Chechenian refugees are sheltered. Governor Sahin stated that Turkey acted in safe as much as possible in order not to cause a problem between states on the issue of Chechenian Refugees and therefore governorship could bear some part of these costs. Governor Sahin expressed that he has given instructions to ensure 17-18 students to go to school allocating a minibus to the camp.
Refugee Eyüp, “We don‘t know whether power is supplied to homes or not"
Camp inhabitants who were not supplied power from main network for 3 years ad to survive under unhealthy conditions especially in winter seasons due to heating and hot water problems. Refugee Eyüp who is one of the camp inhabitant stated that they were supplied power using a generator but several generators were broken down for the reason of overload while they tried to supply power to many home and added “They examined power network visiting our camp. We were told the power could be supplied in a short time. But I wonder if the power is supplied to the shelters for heating and hot water? We don‘t know however we would be appreciated if this problem is solved either“.
“Yalova camp has the worst conditions in respect of health“
Some of 1,500 refugees refuged to Turkey after 1st and 2nd Russian- Chechenian war are staying under unhealthy conditions in the camps located in Beykoz, Umraniye and Fenerbahce districts of Istanbul and approximately 150 people are staying in this camp who came Yalova after 2nd war. Assemblies of utility poles in Yalova Camp were stolen during time passed disassembled. Imkander officers draw attention to the conditions of camp inhabitants who are exposed to bad conditions with meetings they realized in Yalova Camp unfurling banners in the camp. Imkander asked Yalova Governorship to solve the problem of power supply send a letter to the governorship.
Imkander wrote a letter to Governor Sahin
They stated in the letter “Dear Mr. Dursun Ali Sahin, Yalova Governor of Republic of Turkey, TIGEM Yalova Chechenian Refugee camp is the camp having worst conditions among the camps we care which is located within the borders of your province. 3. They had no power during Ramadan and an epidemic skin disease is observed on the skin of children during past few days. None of the corporations undertaken power failure although either camp inhabitants or we negotiated Governorship, Municipality and Electric Administration and the case was always hanged on. We Imkander and Caucasian friends would like to state that we would be close follower of the case until the problem is solved. We believe you have the same sensitivity and you would do whatever you can related to the power supply problem of the camp. The letter will accomplish the objective with power supply on October 1st.
