Caucasian Diaspora Decided Establishing Caucasian People Congress

Defending People and Brotherhood Association (İMKANDER) organized International Caucasian Congress in Haliç Congress Center, Istanbul.

The congress was inaugurated by Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih, Istanbul. In his touching speech, Demir said that he admired the struggle being pursued by Caucasian people, let alone their past full of sorrow.

In his speech delivered after Mustafa Demir, Junsei Terasawa, Buddhist Priest, said, after his peace prayer, that he backed the resistance pursued in the Caucasia and that condemned Russia who backed the massacres. Terasawa said that the was in Chechenia during the war and observed the genocide with his own eyes.

The congress was congratulated first by Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey, and innumerable Ministers, deputies and mayors.

The conference was realized in three sessions. In the first session, the presentations were submitted on the subject of “Political Movements in History of Northern Caucasia and Attempts of Unification”.
The first session was chaired by Rıdvan Kaya, President of Özgür Der, where the presentations were submitted by Asst. Dr. Alev Erkilet, İslam Matsiev from Finland, Magomed Toriev from Germany and Elena Maglevannaya from Finland, who was banned to enter into Russia since she backed Chechenian cause.

Participating to the conference from Finland as the editor-in-chief of Caucasian Center, Islam Matsiev said that there were more than 200 Caucasian families in Finland in the emigrant status and that they went to Finland leaving Turkey. Matsiev said that he was the editor-in-chief of Caucasian Center and that there were vast amount of data on the Caucasia; however, they weren't provided systematically and majority of them were contradictory. Pointing out the bitter cruelties of Russia in the Caucasia, Matsiev said that hundred thousands of Caucasian people dispersed throughout the world.

Taking part to the conference from Germany, Magomed Toriev said that Russian torture wasn‘t solely onto the Chechenia but it was all over the Caucasian and that it was only the Chechenian among the Caucasian people who engaged in armed struggle against Russia.
European’s Incredibility

Faruk Ünsal, President of Mazlum-Der chaired the second session of the conference. During the second session of the conference, Mikael Storsjö, Finnish Human Right Activist, Aleksandra Kvahadze, the member of Georgian Circassian Cultural Center, Yukiko Kıkuchı, Japan Human Right Activist and Vaha Banjaev, President of Czech Republic Concentration Camp Prisoners Association on “Human Right Abuses in Northern Caucasia”.

Vaha Banjaev, President of Czech Republic Concentration Camp Prisoners Association delivered most interesting presentation during second session. Banjaev said that there were hundreds thousands Chechenians in Russian concentration camps and that Russia killed about 98 thousands women, 195 thousands senior people and more than 60 thousands children. Pointing out that it was clear indication of Russian massacre, Banjaev said that the world was silent to such torture. Banjaev said that he was served for European Parliament for 12 years and that proclaimed the fact that Russia pursued massacre in the Caucasia; however no progress was ever achieved since last 12 years. Banjaev added: “I tell European people Russian torture and justified struggles of the Caucasian for 12 years. But I haven’t made any progress at all. I tell you, don’t believe and rely on the Europeans. This is mainly because that think nothing but their benefits. I wonder, what do they trade for a life of Chechenian in terms of petroleum? Here, it is the Islamic world to act. This is because we are Muslims for which we fight for 400 years. Until now, I made 125 applications to European Human Right Court, but none of them was accepted.
